Protecting and managing water resources in the Upper Gunnison River Basin
The Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District (UGRWCD) was established in 1959 by a vote of the taxpayers pursuant to the Water Conservancy Act to conserve, protect, and defend the waters within the Upper Gunnison River Basin.
Its activities now include financial, legal, political and engineering support for water rights litigation, legislation and other political activities, and support for a wide variety of local water users’ interests including agriculture, recreation, environmental, and municipal uses.
